The American Revolution started with a drumbeat at Lexington Massachusetts and ended with a drumbeat at Yorktown Virginia, six and a half years later. I do the drum presentation in the garb of a Militia drummer during the revolution using a reproduction, rope tensioned, drum of the size and type in use at the time. It is pictured above.
The presentation is about an hour is length and includes time for questions. It covers the significant drum signals used at the above events and the ones that governed the daily lives of the continental soldiers. Adults down to elementary aged youngsters can enjoy the information and history.
The drum presentation can be held indoors or out, although the drum needs to be muted in a small indoor space and will not sound as good as outdoors.
